As sin is pretty old hat these days, apart from not being nice to one another, I suppose a confessional is surplus to requirements. I notice that in several churches the old confessionals have disappeared in favour of more user-friendly plasterboard boxes or small rooms. The sadness is that this beautiful confessional will probably be broken up and used for decorative panelling.
