The version it gives is a little longer, thus: <br />"Eternal Father...holy souls in Purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the Universal Church, those in my own home and within my family. Amen"<br /><br />A note with the prayer says: <br />'Our Lord told St. Gertrude the Great that the followin prayer would release one thousand souls from Purgatory each time it is said. The prayer was later extended to include living sinners as well.'<br /><br />How's that for prayer-power? Imagine making up a chaplet, along the lines of the Divine Mercy - that adds up to fifty thousand souls.
